February News
The First General Baptist Church invites everyone to "The Blessing" Soup Kitchen. They are serving free meals every week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays from 5:00 to 6:30pm. The church is located at 2507 Railroad Drive in Willow Springs, MO. (south of the hwy 60/63 bypass) (Take the Hillbilly Junction, Comfort Inn exit - Turn south at the bottom of the off-ramp - Go 1/4 mile to the 4-way stop sign - Turn left on Railroad Drive and travel 1 mile to the church on the right). The Bread of Life Kitchen (of Word of Life Church in Mountain Home) is serving hot, home cooked meals using foods that are donated or are purchased with donated funds. Meals are served on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:30pm. It is open to anyone in the community who is in need of a hot meal and good fellowship. The menu for Wednesday, February 10th: Beef & Noodles, Vegetable, Roll, and Dessert. The meal is free, but donations are always appreciated from those who can contribute. You're invited to the 2010 Calico Rock Marriage Conference at the First Baptist Church (in Calico Rock) with Wayne & Tina Hudson on Friday, February 12th, from 6:30 to 9:30pm (Dinner provided) and Saturday, February 13th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm (Lunch provided). Oxford Baptist Church welcomes "The Cast", a Christian drama team, to lead the worship service on Sunday, February 14th, at 11:00am. "The Cast" is the Creative Ministry team from Williams Baptist College (at Walnut Ridge). Everyone is invited to come and experience the power of God at work in the lives of young people. Beginning Monday, February 15th, from 9:00 to 11:00am - "A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls" will be held at Elmcroft Assisted Living of Mountain Home. Many seniors experience fear of falling and restrict their activities. This 8 week program (presented by Nancy Svehla, BSN, RN) emphasizes practical strategies to reduce this fear and increase activity levels. Participants will learn to change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, set realistic goals to increase activity, and exercise to increase strength and balance. Elmcroft Assisted Living of Mountain Home invites you to Alzheimer's Caregiver Symposium presented by Alzheimer's Arkansas. This presentation examines the warning signals provided by the body and some types of memory loss that are reversible. In addition - the umbrella term of dementia, neurons and the damage caused by Alzheimer's disease, diagnosis, treatment, research, and information about caregivers and their roles and services designed to assist them through this process. The symposium is free to the public - however, medical professionals wishing to earn two DEU's are asked to RSVP and bring a $20.00 fee. The CALL (Children of Arkansas Loved for a Lifetime) is a nonprofit group dedicated to recruiting, training and supporting Christian foster and adoptive families. The CALL for Izard, Fulton & Sharp Counties will hold its monthly information meetings on the first Monday of each month in one of the three counties. The March meeting will be held at the Melbourne Community Church on Monday, March 1st, from 6:30 - 8:00pm. The church is located on Hwy 9 South in Melbourne. The Baxter County Conservation District is now taking orders for beautification trees. Available this year are the White Dogwood, Redbud, Pink Crabapple, Carolina Silverbell, Tulip Tree, Purple Smoke, and new this year the Magnolia. The trees will be approximately 3 to 4 feet tall and come in 3 gallon containers with a two year root system. All trees are $15.00 each. Orders will be taken through March 12th.
